YUNGBLUD 2022 Royal Albert Hall Signed Screen Print Artist Proof
For Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall
This YUNGBLUD signed print was created for his Teenage Cancer Trust show at the Royal Albert Hall on 23 March 2022, with support from Nova Twins and Daisy Brain. The original edition of 100 has sold out, leaving a small number of artist proofs from the same print run, each hand signed by YUNGBLUD.
The artwork leans into the cut-and-paste visual language that has followed YUNGBLUD throughout his career. Black-and-white photography, torn-paper typography and a strong pink ground are layered together like a punk flyer or handmade fanzine, with the Royal Albert Hall worked directly into the composition. It feels raw and immediate rather than overly polished, which suits both the artist and the show it was made to celebrate.
The 2022 performance came during YUNGBLUD’s Life On Mars era, with a set that included parents, The Funeral, mars, fleabag, Loner, hope for the underrated youth and god save me, but don’t drown me out. It was also part of the return of Teenage Cancer Trust’s Royal Albert Hall concerts after their pandemic-enforced break, giving the night an extra sense of release.
YUNGBLUD, born Dominic Harrison, has built his audience by pulling together punk, alternative rock and pop with a strong sense of community around the people who connect with his music. By the time of this Royal Albert Hall performance, he had already established himself as one of the most visible new British rock artists of his generation, with 21st Century Liability and weird! behind him and his self-titled third album arriving later that year.
These copies are artist proofs from the sold-out edition of 100. Artist proofs are produced alongside the main edition during the printmaking process, allowing the artist and printer to assess colour, registration and the finished result before or during production. They are kept separate from the standard numbered run and usually exist in far smaller quantities, giving them a distinct place within the edition.
Commissioned and published by Teenage Cancer Trust, this YUNGBLUD Royal Albert Hall artist proof forms part of our wider poster archive celebrating the artists who have performed in support of young people with cancer.
