"YOU'RE AN ANGEL." A line from NewDad turned into a bold, glittering piece of typographic artwork by British artist Adam Bridgland, created exclusively for Teenage Cancer Trust and hand signed by Bridgland alongside Julie Dawson and Sean O'Dowd of NewDad.
Taken from Angel, the opening track on NewDad's debut album MADRA, the lyric becomes the entire focus of the print. Bridgland strips everything back to four words, using his distinctive hand-drawn lettering against a field of colour and letting the texture of the screen printing do the rest.
Formed in Galway before relocating to London, NewDad emerged with a sound drawing together dream pop, shoegaze and alternative rock. Their 2024 debut album MADRA brought together earlier favourites with songs including Angel, Nightmares and White Ribbons, establishing the band well beyond the early attention surrounding their first EPs.
Bridgland's work frequently takes familiar words, phrases and cultural references and gives them new life through typography and traditional printmaking. Here, the deliberately simple composition is lifted by a glitter screen print, giving the coloured background a sparkling, textured surface that changes as it catches the light.
The print is available in two colourways, blue or pink, with just 50 of each produced. Each is hand-crafted on heavyweight 300gsm Somerset Satin paper and individually signed by Adam Bridgland, Julie Dawson and Sean O'Dowd.
