Mystery Jets 2010 Royal Albert Hall Band Signed Lithographic Print
Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall
Created for Mystery Jets' 2010 appearance at the Royal Albert Hall, this limited-edition print combines original artwork by Josh Townshend with a piece of Teenage Cancer Trust music history, with each of the 100 copies individually hand signed by the band.
Mystery Jets arrived at the Royal Albert Hall at an exciting point in their career. Having emerged from London's Eel Pie Island scene with debut album Making Dens, the band reached a much wider audience with 2008's Twenty One and songs including Young Love and Two Doors Down. By March 2010, they were preparing to release their third album, Serotonin.
They performed on 27 March 2010 as special guests to Arctic Monkeys, alongside Anna Calvi, during a run of shows celebrating ten years of Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. Their set mixed favourites including Flakes and Two Doors Down with new material from Serotonin, several months before the album was released.
Josh Townshend's artwork captures the colourful, eccentric character associated with Mystery Jets without relying on a conventional band portrait. A vintage biplane sits at the centre of the composition, surrounded by oversized Mystery Jets lettering and smaller illustrated details including a cassette, Rubik's Cube and flowers. Bright orange, purple, pink and yellow give the whole piece a playful, psychedelic quality that suits the band particularly well.
Produced as an A2 lithographic print on 240gsm Munken Design Polar Crisp stock, the artwork was printed by Jump in Sheffield. The edition is limited to 100 copies, each individually hand signed by Mystery Jets.
Part of our History of Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall music poster series, the print revisits a memorable night from the charity's concert history through Townshend's original artwork and the signatures of the band who took to the stage.
