Friendly Fires Paris Autographed Print
Inspired by Friendly Fires’ ‘Paris’, this signed limited-edition screen print by Melissa Kasumi Pierce turns the song into a dense geometric composition built from symmetry, fine linework and deep blue. The band name and song title are woven into the design rather than sitting apart from it, while stars, architectural shapes and repeated borders give the piece an almost diagrammatic feel.
That makes it a good visual match for a track that became one of Friendly Fires’ defining early songs. Originally released in 2007 and later included on the band’s self-titled debut album, Paris helped establish the St Albans trio’s blend of indie rock, dance music and electronics. The song became a long-running favourite in the band’s catalogue, while the album itself reached the UK Top 40 and helped earn Friendly Fires a Mercury Prize nomination.
The artwork leans into pattern and structure rather than literal imagery. Repeated geometric sections pull the eye towards the centre, while the thin white linework sits sharply against the blue ground. There is a decorative quality to it, but also a strong sense of movement, which suits the rhythmic, dance-driven character that has always been central to Friendly Fires.
Melissa Kasumi Pierce created the print specifically around the song, giving Paris a visual identity that feels more like a piece of graphic art than conventional band merchandise. I haven’t found a reliable published artist biography for Pierce, so I’d keep the focus here on the work itself rather than pad the page with unverified background.
