Kaiser Chiefs 2007 Royal Albert Hall Band Signed Screen Print

For Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall

$65.57

By the time Kaiser Chiefs arrived at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust on 30 March 2007, they were right in the middle of one of the biggest years of their career. This signed limited-edition Kaiser Chiefs gig poster was created to mark that performance, just weeks after Yours Truly, Angry Mob had gone straight to number one in the UK.

Created by The Red Dress, the artwork uses a deliberately exaggerated visual language: a pair of watchful eyes, oversized yellow lettering, a hot pink field and a row of tiny silhouetted figures running across the bottom of the image. It feels closer to a piece of pulp illustration or vintage advertising than a conventional concert poster, and that gives it a character of its own.

The band’s name dominates the composition, but the details around it keep the image moving. The scale is slightly strange, the colours are intentionally loud and the small figures at the bottom add a sense of momentum that suits a band known for high-energy live shows.

The timing of the print gives it some extra weight too. Yours Truly, Angry Mob spent two weeks at number one and became one of the defining records of Kaiser Chiefs’ early career, following the breakthrough success of Employment. Songs like Ruby, Everything Is Average Nowadays and The Angry Mob helped push the Leeds band from indie favourites into much larger rooms and audiences.

The poster was created by The Red Dress, an illustration studio whose work draws on retro commercial art, film posters and vintage print culture. That influence comes through clearly here in the limited palette, bold hand-drawn type and slightly surreal composition.

Produced for Teenage Cancer Trust’s long-running Royal Albert Hall concert series, this Kaiser Chiefs print captures a very specific point in the band’s history and turns it into something that feels more like collectible graphic art than straightforward memorabilia.
