Good Energy I - Music Posters
Good Energy is about what happens between the stage and the crowd. The noise, movement and shared experience of live music, captured in a single moment.
Created as the defining artwork for Teenage Cancer Trust's Good Energy series, Good Energy I combines the live photography of Andy Paradise with handmade fluorescent typography by Ben Beach. The image was captured at the Royal Albert Hall and features Frank Carter in the crowd during a performance with Sex Pistols, but here the moment represents something bigger: the connection between artist and audience that sits at the heart of the entire series.
Paradise's black-and-white photograph is full of movement, with Carter almost disappearing into the crowd around him. Rather than presenting a traditional view of a performer on stage, it puts the audience right at the centre of the action, capturing the spontaneity and unpredictability that make live music feel different every time.
Across the photograph, Beach's handmade GOOD ENERGY lettering brings a completely different visual language to the image. The fluorescent typography cuts through the monochrome photography, giving the piece its identity and turning a fleeting live moment into the title artwork for the wider collection.
The finished piece is produced as a five-layer silk screen print on heavyweight 350gsm stock, with handmade fluorescent letterpress typography adding further texture and depth. Printed at A2 by White Duck Editions in Bath, it's a bold piece of contemporary music art in its own right and a fitting introduction to the Good Energy series.
